In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the uncertain times we face, it has come to our attention that the birthday bags may also be used as gift bags in some of the homeless shelters, food pantries, churches, nursing homes, hospitals, and other social service facilities. Restrictions such as social distancing, remote learning/school closures, and stay at home orders have affected the traditional way of celebrating birthdays.
In order to adhere to safety guidelines, The Birthday Giving Program has temporarily suspended in-person birthday parties since March 2020. We made this difficult decision in order to ensure the well-being of our volunteers and recipients.
Due to the loss of structure and support provided by our original way of life, the psychological effects of COVID-19 on children, adults, senior citizens, and veterans in need has substantially increased. With that being said, the birthday/gift bags are still bringing tremendous support and comfort to those in need. Those affected by poverty, homelessness, domestic violence, and other challenges are being celebrated and remembered but not always in the traditional ways that we are accustomed to being celebrated.
Thank you for your continued support as we continue to pursue our mission to celebrate those who are neglected and forgotten in our communities.
